【教案分享】【Science】 Introduction to Circuits
https://youtu.be/iPAgQSX3yRM
Lesson Objectives
Understand that an electric cell and a closed circuit are required for lighting up a bulb
Recognize that an electric cell is the energy source in a circuit.
Draw and interpret simple circuit diagrams
Teaching
Hook and forming a hypothesis
Students are probed by a question "If I want to light up this light bulb, what are the conditions or apparatus do I need to do so?"
Students then discuss among themselves and share their thoughts and hypothesis
Investigation
Students set-up various circuits and record their results on LoiLoNote.
While students are testing different set-ups, teacher walks around and guides and assess students' understanding.
Students list out the conditions needed for electricity to flow based on their results and share their conclusion.

Building up on the experiment
Teacher introduces the terms 'open circuit' and 'close circuit' and makes connection to their set-ups.
Students identify the energy conversion from the battery to light bulb.
Recognizing Circuit Diagram
Instead of listing out the circuit symbol for each component and asking students to memorize them, the teacher show's an actual circuit and a circuit diagram side by side to allow students to recognize and identify which circuit symbol matches with the actual component.

Students are asked to contruct the set-up shown as an circuit diagram and then take picture of the circuit to submit it to teacher through LoilLoNote. This allow students to translate circuit diagram to actual circuit further helping them to consolidate their understanding.
After being able to convert from circuit diagrams to actual circuits, students draw a circuit diagram with a given circuit.

Lesson Recap
Teacher recaps the lesson objectives and assign a homework of drawing circuit symbols and diagram which is submitted through LoiLoNote.
Strengths of using LoiLoNote in lesson
Incorporating LoiLoNote in science investigations/experiments enhances student engagement and collaboration during lesson. It allows teachers to give a clear goal and structure to students through activities.
Teachers can assess students' understanding and identify misconceptions easily through submission and compare function of LoiLoNote.
Allows teachers to create tasks for students that includes picture taking as a tool of recording progress and results in science.
